As with any journey the preparations, planning and spadework have been taking place for some time. Now we are ready for “take off”.
Melbourne City School’s Principal, Jenny Langmead, commenced design planning for the new Melbourne City School facility this week and prepared the school for its first parent meeting on November 12. Set on the corner of Little Collins and King St (121 King) the school expresses the charm and history of Melbourne and provides the space and flexibility for 21st century schooling. The three floors of the building plus a spacious courtyard will be the Melbourne City School.
Melbourne City School and ELTHAM College CEO, Dr David Warner, said “We have taken considerable time and worked very hard to find a facility that met our stringent criteria. This facility will suitably house the latest addition to Melbourne’s description as Australia’s global knowledge city. The final selection came down to two centres, one that shared with a community of residential accommodation, offices and retailers and the one chosen. We believed that the Melbourne City School would benefit from its own environment as part of the broader CBD rather than simply being part of one community within the CBD. That sort of environment”, Dr Warner said, “ will be much more appropriate to the senior years that will open in a few years time.”
